The number of people asked to fulfill their job duties remotely is increasing. With that, so are the challenges of working from home. Many are faced with the question of how to maintain focus amid the constant concerns about COVID-19.

Here are 5 quick tips to Help You Work From Home More Effectively.

1. Set a Schedule

Map out your day in 30 minute or 1 hour increments. This will help you feel more in control and give you a new daily rhythm. Setting up a consistent morning routine will also help motivate you each day:  get up, get dressed, eat breakfast and be ready for your day.

 

2. Choose a specific workspace

Designating a workspace will help you be more successful day to day.  Avoid using your bed, couch or kitchen counter, if you can, but work with what you have and make it an uplifting space. This will make you appreciate your space more. It will also help you to be excited about getting up to work each day. Make the space inviting by adding inspirational quotes, photos, plants and lighting.

 

3. Take Breaks

Although we are currently on lockdown, it is important to embrace the fact that you can still go outside for a walk or take a moment to sit on the porch. Get as much vitamin D as possible. The sun does wonders for your mental health!

 

4. Focus on the positive

Think about all the things you can do and not everything you can’t do or don’t have access to right now. Focusing on the things you can control will promote a more positive energy.

 

5. Step away at the end of the day

Its easy to get wrapped up in unfinished work. The fact that you don’t have to catch a train or bus or beat traffic should not stop you from stepping away at the end of the day. Stop working and take time to exercise, watch a movie, or relax with your loved ones. Do something you enjoy. Take advantage of these benefits of working from home.
