You are getting married and it’s time to choose all the things you want to do to memorialize this moment. Obviously, photography ranks amongst the top most important choices!  And to elevate your photo experience, did you know there is another type of session that you can add on to your package. What is a Bridal Session?

Traditionally, a Bridal Session was when a bride, a month or so before the wedding, put on her dress and did a heavily posed-style photoshoot. But guess what? That’s just one interpretation of a bridal session. Truly, a bridal session can be something beyond just a traditional shoot. For example, an adventurous photo shoot of the couple (not just the bride) in their wedding attire hiking up a mountain with stunning views. Or, a Vogue-like stylized studio session. Whatever the case, it is supposed to be exciting and for many more reasons, so WORTH it! Just get dolled up, bring a sample bouquet or boutonniere, and let’s go!

Why should I consider a Bridal Session?

1. See the whole Picture. You’ve already purchased the dress and the accessories, including shoes and jewelry. How is this going to all come together? A bridal session is the sneak peek into visualizing how everything fits together. Hence, it will give you the opportunity to make any changes before the wedding day. Which ties in perfectly with the next reason on our list.
2. Trial testing… 1, 2, 3. You need to schedule a hair and make up trial anyway, so why not take advantage of it! Book a portrait session for the same day as your trial. You’ll get images of the completed look so you can confirm that you will look exactly how you envision for the big day!
3. Details, details, details. Ever wonder how photographers capture beautiful detail shots? It’s all about availability, patience and time. There’s so much to remember to bring with you on your wedding day. What if you forget your invitation suite? It happens 8 out of 10 times. Or you bring your grandmother’s bible, but you forget to show it to us. For a photographer to capture details in the most precise and beautiful way it can often take hours. But your schedule is already jammed pack and you don’t want to add on more additional service hours. Your photographer might have very little time to shoot the details on your extremely busy wedding day. Most women (sorry men!), traditionally have grown up with a lot of expectations and pressures of what the wedding day must look like. Time to slay. It’s the best “me” time. Plus you’ll get to wear your dress more than once which equals feeling the most gorgeous twice. 
6. More Photos, duh. Let’s face it, wedding day is going to be hectic. You’ll think you have enough time for everything. Truth is, especially  the preparation and getting ready is going to be a whirlwind. Maximize the time for portraits now so come wedding day, you’ve already completed that step.

Include the side of your personality. Whether it’s an accessory piece or even your pet, the sky’s the limit! Well.. kinda. We will not skydive for photos so we might have a bit of a limit. : )
8. Location vibes. Had a hard time narrowing down to one venue? Were you stuck on two ideas? The great thing about the Bridal session is that it could take the place of that second best theme you had in mind. I personally always thought I was a boho bride, until I we had a vintage lux wedding. A bridal session was the perfect chance to appease my inner hippie. If you are much like me, why not take the chance to explore another location? You’ll have plenty of opportunities for photos of you in your dress at your wedding venue. A bridal session is also a chance to be photographed in a different season. Perhaps, you are getting married in the Summer, but would love to have some photos in the snow too. Or you’re getting married in September… hello hurricane season!  If it rains, you’ll have a Plan B. 
9. Show it off. You can print these images for your wedding day. Whether to present to your groom as a gift BEFORE or AFTER exchanging vows. Or, to display at the reception. A popular trend is having a large canvas printed and displayed at your receptions where your guests can take a Sharpie and sign their blessings. Your bridal session portraits have now become your guest book. 
10. Meaning and Purpose. Ultimately, they’ll provide a sweet  keepsake for you, your partner and even your family. We strongly believe that your photos are much more sentimental and valuable once you print them. Giving a framed print to your parents, grandparents or to hang on your wall is invaluable. 11. Bonus Reason: For anyone. Bridal Sessions customarily and incorrectly are geared towards only a female bride. However, that’s not the case with our sessions. Not all couples are hetersexual and we support that. The bridal session is simply a portrait session for solo images, and it could be of any person in their wedding attire.

When do I  book my bridal session?

We recommend 2 months prior to the wedding day. By this time, hopefully your major alterations are complete, and there is plenty of time to get your dress cleaned afterwards (if it gets dirty). But please, be sure to find a cleaner that SPECIALIZES in wedding gowns. No dry cleaning. 

Where should I do my Bridal Session?
