We met Evelyn and Brandon on a chilly Sunday morning for their Meridian Hill  Park engagement session. Since the couple is new to the area, we chose a location fitting to welcome them to the Washington DC area. One of DC’s tucked away gems, Meridian Hill Park offers a calm place with beautiful archatexture in the middle a of the Columbia Heights neighborhood in NW DC.

The beautifully constructed urban park, located in the northwest neighborhood of the city, Columbia Heights, was built in the early 20th century. However, the history of the hill dates from the early 1800s with quite the interesting story. The hill is situated at the exact, original longitudinal meridian marker for the District of Columbia. Also, it is exactly north of the White House. Since 1933 it has been part of the National Park Service; so anyone can enjoy the unique texture and design at no charge! If you haven’t been, be sure to visit!

As we walked around the park with Evelyn and Brandon, we had the chance to bond. They are so down-to-earth and we have many things in common, such as their love of good restaurants and craft beer. Seeing Evelyn and Brandon together couldn’t have been more sweet. Brandon is a total gentleman, full of chivalry and thoughtfulness. Our photo of Brandon putting his coat around Evelyn was not staged. It was a real, authentic gesture! It was such a joy to walk around Meridian Hill with them. We loved how they danced and posed gracefully, allowing our cameras to tag along. We are so happy we could document their fondness for one another. We wish them all the best in their new city and with planning their Texas wedding.
