Alex & Jason are married! We loved the intimate feel of this Rustic Hudson Valley Wedding. In fact, this wonderful couple made our jobs as photographers a real pleasure. We truly felt more like family than we did photographers; moreover, we are grateful to the family and the amazing team at Everlasting Affairs for their friendly hospitality.

Feeling at home was no surprise. After shooting their engagement session on the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC last winter, we knew we were going to have a great time with Alex & Jason. These two are so down-to-earth and very much “made for each other”. We couldn’t wait to head north to the Hudson Valley, New York for their nuptials!  Located in the quiet town of Newburgh, new wedding venue, the Barn at Colden House served as Alex and Jason’s setting. Nestled in country roads just off the highway, the property at Colden House was a truly serene. Specifically, perfect for a couple who wants something a little more intimate with a very country feel!  We are honored to announce that we got to photograph the venues inaugural wedding. Besides the very large main house (built circa 1770), the property also features a separate carriage-like house, dubbed the “Creamery” with all the amenities for a full bridal suite. Beside that is the rustic barn turned reception area complete with a spacious outdoor space with a lovely built-in fire pit. Alex and Jason opted to turn this into a Smore’s area! Yum! Beside these, there are several other buildings on the property that serve as great unique backdrops.
As with most weddings, emotions usually run a little high. Overall, one of our favorite moments is always the bride’s reveal to the parents. In fact, nothing makes us tear-up more – especially Richie! When Alex’s dad saw her in her wedding gown, he was full of emotion and the two had a very special moment before they walked down the aisle to meet Jason. At the ceremony site, the tears of joy continued as Jason took his first look at Alex as she joined him to wed!
The ceremony was short and sweet and conducted by one of Jason’s closest friends. The sunlight sat just behind the trees and softly back-lit Alex and Jason as they pronounced “I do”.
Across from the ceremony site, was the reception area, a simply decorated rustic barn coupled with the bride and groom’s personal DIY items laid on a welcome table. In detail, pictures of loved ones, card box, a guest book sign, and a fill-in date night idea. Not to mention, as can be seen, one of the coolest additions was Jason’s father’s old school renovated 1954 Chevy Bel Air. of course, we couldn’t resist taking some portraits with it!

Weddings are often not only about the couple coming together, but about families becoming one. Everything about this event had a theme of ‘unity’.  In essence, this is certainly the vibe we took away from this amazing day and we couldn’t be more honored.
Congratulations to this wonderful couple! May they have many years of happiness together!
