Carla and Ron’s Fox Hall Wedding in Woodbury, New York couldn’t have been more lovely. This super hip couple wanted to combine all the elements of a traditional ceremony with a modern, elegant reception for their wedding day celebration. Their wedding dream came to life right before our eyes and we couldn’t be more thrilled to share our photos with you!
Ron and Carla caught our attention right away when they mentioned they were self-proclaimed nerds. Since we are guilty of such ourselves, we loved them right off the bat! There is no foul in gravitating towards the fun stuff in life… movies, comics, music. : ) As we got to know them a little better, we found we had a lot more things in common. Ron is a photographer himself… a really good photographer in fact. It’s always the biggest compliment to get hired from somebody in the field. We really appreciate that kind of trust in our work.
On wedding day, we started off at the hotel on the Fox Hollow property. The Fox Hollow is a “luxurious destination on Long Island, New York.” It’s an estate compound with a hotel, restaurant, banquet halls and several elegant ballrooms on beautiful eight-acres. Staying at the same hotel is ideal for any wedding party, both for organizational purposes and for the sheer convenience at the end of the night. Keeping things traditional, Carla and Ron had separate rooms, so we split our time starting with the bride and her bridesmaids. Carla and her girls were full of emotion, laughter, happy tears and plenty of dance practice. We loved their energy and knew it was going to be a fun day!
We briefly visited Ron and his gentlemen to see what they were up to. Ron was calm, collective, and looking sharp!
The ceremony was a traditional Catholic mass with additions of Filipino customs. This included gifts from their wedding party, presentation of coins, being tied together under a veil, and even receiving the holy communion. The church itself was beautiful. It was a very large and spacious place of worship with plenty of light coming in from skylights in the ceiling.
After leaving the church we all headed back to Fox Hollow! The Somerley at Fox Hollow really shined as a venue space. The beautifully decorated room glowed with purple and magenta uplight and white and lavender flower arrangements at every table. Even the additional bar and bourbon stations were grand in design.
One of the biggest surprises of the night’s festivities was the dancing. Let’s put it this way… this group knows how to party!! There was never an empty moment on the dance floor. We met one of the best DJs and Host we’ve had the pleasure to work with. DJ Spider of Body stock Entertainment was unbelievable! His positive and energetic mood was contagious throughout the venue. We sure believe it was the best party of their lives!
