Washington DC Engagement Session at Dupont Circle + Blagden Alley

February 27, 2020

Just one week to go before Katherine and David’s Washington DC Wedding! And we cannot wait! This down to Earth couple was so much fun during their Washington DC Engagement Session at Dupont Circle, of course their wedding will be too!

They have a wonderful love story. Really, it’s like something straight out of a romantic comedy. Separately, they booked a guided vacation with family to visit Isreal. Because it was a group tour, it involved strangers being on the same trip. That is when Katie and David met! During their various excursions, the small group quickly became close friends and sparks flew between the pair. When they returned to the US, they kept in contact and eventually fell in love.

We met all met for their engagement session on a chilly Sunday afternoon right in the heart Washington DC, that is Dupont Circle. The Fountain (more uncommonly  known as the Rear of Admiral Samual Francis Dupont) was our starting point. For a weekend, Dupont was surprisingly quiet with most people seeking shelter from the colder temperatures. But, we always have the bravest couples. We didn’t let the weather affect us!

We quickly worked our way into the the warm setting sun in the park before seeking shelter ourselves into one of Katherine & David’s favorite DC spots, KramerBooks & Afterwords. The longstanding bookstore has been in business since 1976. Of course, it is a neighborhood staple! It was so fun to follow the couple through the store for a few minutes and have a quick read with them.

After the bookstore, we thought it would be a great time for dessert. Yes, even in the cold!. We walked right across Connecticut Ave to Dolcezza Gelato. Certainly the couple has a fun side and they are super cute when they’re together.

Lastly, Katie and David wanted one more iconic Washington DC spot for their photos. So, we took them to the Love Mural at Blagden Alley. The mural was created by artist Lisa Marie Thalhammer and since its creation has become a top spot for DC Engagement Photographers. We always try to include recognizable locations in our sessions. It becomes the special touch to freeze the memory of the setting.

We are so excited for Katherine and David’s upcoming wedding at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle.
