We never try to play favorites, but this early fall wedding has us swooning… it is so our style! Courtney and Ryan’s Calvert County, Maryland wedding on their family farm, was the perfect blend of everything chic: a bright red barn, boho-vibes, and thoughtful details sprinkled everywhere. From Courtney’s gorgeous gown and romantic hair-do, to Ryan’s infectious smile, the lush bouquets, and the VW bus Photo Booth, this wedding is sure to be a favorite of ours for a very long time!
For any couple who is searching for that ultimate Pinterest-like bohochic inspiration, this is the dream, right here. The theme: a bohemian backyard wedding. It’s no wonder Courtney’s source of so much inspiration were the 1960s, as her style reflected pure hippie fashion fantasy. To bring her vision to life, Courtney looked over every detail, still focusing on what mattered most, her and Ryan’s love story, their families, and close friends.
We started off our day with Courtney and the girls getting ready. The girls were dressed in matching floral robes and then switched to minty green gowns, each a different style. Courtney’s dress was stunning! The bodice and skirt of the gown were embellished with soft lace, almost-pastel, iridescent pink flowers. Many family heirlooms were included throughout the day. The first being two buttons worn by Courtney’s grandmother pinned to the inside of the brides dress. The second, a piece of lace from Courtney’s mother wedding dress. We were able to captured Carole as she sewed it onto her daughters gown right on the spot. Ryan’s details were just as sentimental. He wore his groom gift, an engraved pair of cufflinks with Courtney’s handwritten message. He also pinned two locket sized portraits of two people most dear to him, his dad and one of his best friends.
Courtney and Ryan’s first look was a special moment where the couple really had a chance to relax with each other and take everything in before the ceremony took place. Happening right in the front yard of the farm, both Courtney and Ryan teared up with joy and and surprise right before they embraced with a kiss.
Courtney and Ryan’s daughter Aurora also has a great role in the day. She was the life of the party during Courtney’s preparations as everyone took turns holding her. She was dressed and ready to be carried down the aisle by Courtney’s sister, and she got plenty of camera time in the couples formal photos. At the ceremony, Courtney walked down the aisle, escorted by her father, to The Beatle’s “Here Comes the Sun,” played on the strings. The perfect song for making a grand entrance and a romantic melody for walking down the aisle.
Courtney sourced her own blooms for her wedding day. In fact, her twin sister grew the wedding flowers right in the garden on this property! She prepared all the arrangements including the bride’s flower crown and bridal party bouquets. The tablescapes were adorned with garden-fresh bloomers – gorgeous and vibrant. Perfect mix of beautiful bohemian elements were incorporated with varied china, a mix of vintage glassware, and linen napkins. Farmhouse tables not only looked gorgeous in the backyard, but they provided plenty of seating for the guests.
Just as they’d hoped, dinner was outdoors in the garden under white tents and string stringlights with the sun setting in the background. We were fortunate enough to have a the red, rustic barn on the premise. WHICH WAS AMAZING!!
This couple’s wedding reception was so much fun! They really took boho chic to another level. We can’t remember a wedding with such thoughtful and perfect details. Not to forget to mention, how the welcoming space, perfectly complimented Courtney and Ryan’s sweet personalities. We are honored to have been part of their day and we wish their little family a life full of smiles.
